And standing in the queue, because on the occasion of this investment is not taken care of demarcation detours, watched extraordinary mess on the site. Unimaginable chaos and muck, which is slowly emerging shape of the three level crossings, and it alone - already with what you see, you can acquire such a belief - certainly not beautiful. And looking at the construction site, driving at a snail's pace for tirem-trailer, I thought the album "Polish Outdoor" Dymna Elizabeth and Martin Rutkiewicz, after which once drove a roll on this blog. After a few months after the inclusion of that post, probably on the occasion of googlowania reaction to their new book Fri "Polish streetart ", Martin Rutkiewicz went on this my text, and wrote me an extensive e-mail. I had to answer him, but I did not do it right away, while the album is not looking to re-motivated me to verify, however, expressed before the courts.
Well, now, going a few days ago by ROK (the acronym is already in good), I thought that ... this shit, chaos and disorder, which can be seen on the occasion of rebuilding the roundabout, it is practically speaking everywhere . That is not just about the presence of different kinds of planes advertising (And how, is there a lot of them). Of course you can bring to push through the Polish parliament a law which will regulate (and in this limit) modes of operation of visual advertising in public space. Perhaps it can be done. And fun, because then we will see, finally, how much has been screwed in the last 20 years, the Polish landscape. The omnipresence of visual ads (professional on billboards and any samowolek on banners, tables and racks), it is only part of a larger phenomenon, which (unfortunately) that surrounds us, or better said, we are (and unfortunately) an integral part.
Dymna Writing about the album and Rutkiewicz, drew attention to the poor quality of the images contained therein. You can understand and appreciate the character of the intervention project (and I do not deny), but in any case, I am deeply convinced of this, you should not accept mediocrity visual photography. The method of presentation of a topic, even in the case of the phenomenon, which is assessed critically, it should not take on the negative (receiving criticism) features, and photos posted on the "Polish outdoor advertising" is not yet an example of subversive activities ... The level of visual culture in our country is not the highest, which demonstrates perfectly the nature of outdoor advertising, but it is not the only one. Because after all, contemporary design of housing and rising in the suburbs of Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, and urban planning solutions (that is, rather, their complete lack of conceptual work) Polish cities, greatly aided by the lack of development plans, and shape a more "representative" of buildings, constructed in the central districts of the occasion which is usually smack (ie limited) public space, all with Polish uotdoorem fits together like a glove.
Using the photographic image, such matters can not only talk but also by the arrangement of material to show the genesis of the phenomenon, and also make some kind of analysis about the social, historical and political (why not?) Overtones. This method story using the photographic medium to the Polish reality is important and should not resemble his character, to what we present.
