Buildings on Tremont Street, Boston (1975)

Nicholas Nixon, Buildings on Tremont Street, Boston (1975)

While in Berlin, I visited a bookstore, of course, contemporary art museum Hamburger Bahnhof, with the hope that in the local bookstore I find some cool albums from the repricing. This time, however, nothing particularly interesting is not issued, the department of photography books, I immediately caught a album / folder ripleja exhibition "The New Thopographics", which took place some time ago (still is?) Tour of art museums. Since the position is valued at € 50, gave up a conditional purchase it, with the hope that in the near future and during the next visit in Berlin, goes to the bargain. However, I looked carefully book, finding the middle of the splendid set of Nicholas Nixon (now known most of the series of portraits of four sisters Brown to perform over 30 years). And this set the most caught my eye the pictures above. Looking at the urban landscapes of Nixon, which were exposed during the first and second edition of "The New Thopographics, you can see at a glance that they are part of quite logically presenting the evolution of urban landscapes, ranging from Eduard Baldus and authors working for the Mission Heliographique , the pictures made by a true collective of a dozen photographers commissioned by the Detroit Publishing Co.. (A lot of work from the archives of this institution appears regularly on the page www.shorpy.com ), New York-based staff Sheelera Charles, the late Alfred Stieglitz, to Düsseldorfer Schule and quite recent work by John Davies on his color cycle "Metropoli" .
spectrum of photographic document is circulated to the cities in the world!
